Year 1 Half Term 5 - Week 6

22/05/23 - Going through scenes while cast 2 watches to get there opinions.

Today we went straight into rehearsals, this week Tom is helping out the casts by watching them go all the way through the play and giving them notes on how to make it even better. Tom was working with cast 1 today so my cast and cast 2 went into the other dance studio and went through the play scene by scene watching and giving notes to each other.

This was a really good rehearsal day I think because I love hearing what people think of my acting and how I can make it better, sometimes I feel like their notes aren't for me but it's still great to see how other people see your character because you can take on all of it and really make it unique. I think the biggest thing I learnt today is you can never be perfect, it may sound weird because we all strive to perfect on stage but from today's rehearsal I really learnt that the mistakes you made are there to make you even better.

23/05/23 - Work through play with set and full cast, working with Tom to get notes and improve performance.

Today we worked completely with Tom and it was amazing, it was great to finally go through the play with the set and a full cast! I won't lie it's been stressful having people be out filming and you need to rehearse without them because you don't want anyone to get confused so being able to go through the whole first half of the play was great.

Some of Tom's notes were a bit brutal but definitely needed. I really liked the way he teaches because he didn't hold back to make you feel better, he tells you how it is so you can improve straight away. One of the notes I found the most useful to me was that I needed to make my voice higher. This is because I'm playing a 12 year old so sounding older doesn't really work. I found this note useful because I have a very naturally low voice so I know it's going to be a challenge to make it higher which is why I like this role so much, it's pushing me to be an even better actor. To work on my voice I will go through my lines at college and at home seeing how high I can get and find a middle ground that makes me sound more childlike.
