Year 1 Half Term 4 - Week 3
13/03/23 - connections rehearsals.
It’s the week of the show!
Because of this we got our heads down and powered through the script. Getting the first scenes perfect and then moving on to the end of the script to make sure they are perfect. This was a bit nerve racking because we still had some touch ups to do but I know we will get them ready for the show. We then went through the script fully taking pauses were we thought necessary to add corrections or notes to help make the performance better and show ready.
14/03/23 - filming.
Today we were asked to help the film makers out by being extras in their film about boxing. It was a retirement party for a character named Frank and we were his friends and family. We did this because extras are really important for a film to bring it to life and make it realistic. If we weren’t there it would just look like a little get together which is not what they wanted. We were given places to sit and the we had to always start in them seats so when they edit scenes together it looks normal. I also learnt today that you have to try and do everything exactly the same each take because they may want to cut two scenes together and it needs to look natural.
15/03/23 - dress rehearsal.
It’s that time again, dress rehearsal before the show.
This is really important because you need to make sure your costume works for the show and if it doesn’t you have time to change it. For me this dress rehearsal was important because I had to get changed in between scenes and only had a certain amount of time. However it worked well and I know this because I practised it in todays rehearsal.
16/03/23 - old times performance.
Today is the day!
Getting ready for the performance I was nervous but excited. I’ve never had a part with more than a couple lines and this was my chance to prove myself.
Going onto the stage was amazing, the energy everyone gave and seeing what you’ve worked on for weeks coming together.
There was a couple mistakes made in the show which was a shame, one of my scenes got cut out. During the show this put me off a little bit because i didn’t know where it went wrong but my cue line was never said, it was no one’s fault because after the show we realised some scenes were jumped forward and when the orders got back on track unfortunately my scene would have already been said. This was upsetting but now we know for Sunderland.
I’m still really proud of my own performance because I didn’t freeze up or forget lines. I went on stage and did my best.
