Year 1 Half term 3 - Week 5

06/02/23 - First learning the flash mob.

We worked with Tom today who told us that we had been given a chance to perform a flash mob for The Globe because they were showing pretty woman in their theatre and wanted us to promote by singing and dancing to the song pretty woman. To get started we did vocal warm ups and learnt the song. Once we had learnt the song we then learnt the basic dance routine we were going to be doing in Wellington square. I wasn’t a huge fan of todays lesson as I don’t really enjoy singing but I know this is a good opportunity so I still wanted to be a part of it.

07/02/23 - flash mob practise and blogger.

In this lesson we carried on with the flash mob practise showing people who may have been off or filming what they need to do. Once we had perfected it we went back to Kanes lesson. In Kanes lesson people who didn’t get a chance to film their modern family scripts we’re doing that, since I had filmed mine I decided to use the time to do some blogger work and start learning my lines for connections.

08/02/23 - LAMDA.

We got a visit from LAMDA, they showed us useful breathing techniques to use off stage to get ready for a performance. We then had to lay on our backs with our eyes closed and say a line we have had in the past or one we have now. Then we were asked to get in a circle and say how we were feeling about this experience. I said intrigued because some of these methods I wouldn’t use again but it is really interesting to learn how others do it. After this we were asked to find a space and they showed us a technique to release any tension in your body, making hmm sounds as you lift your arms up and ah sounds as you shake your arms bringing them back down. This felt weird to do in front of people but it brought us all closer together as we all felt a bit silly doing it. Finally we were asked to get in a circle again and go around saying one of our lines after doing all the warm ups and techniques to see if we found a difference in saying it from when we were on our backs. Personally I felt the same but I really enjoyed this workshop.
