Year 1 Half term 3 - Week 2

16/01/23 - being put into groups to do a read through of connections script.

Today we got put into a group to create a rehearsal cast so we could go through the scenes in more  depth. We also did this because Kelly wanted to see how we worked with people we haven't really worked with before to make sure we would be able to perform with anyone. The first thing we were told about the audition process was that all the rehearsals we are doing are also going to be considered and that how we do in rehearsals could make her decision for her. for me this meant going full out and having confidence that i can do this role because I want to show that I have improved since The wizard of oz.

17/01/23 - Diction.

For Kane's lesson today we learnt about diction and articulation, this is where you pronounce everything correctly so the audience can understand you clearly. Kane showed us a presentation that gives us tips and tricks on how to perfect our diction, one of slides showed facial warmups which may include massaging your cheeks and your lips. Another slide showed that doing vocal warm ups are a good way to make sure your voice is prepared. This may include saying tongue twisters, or say "ah" and "um" to warm up. After this Kane asked us to get into groups of four to create our own diction and articulation lesson. I grouped up with Dev, Freya and Alayah.

18/01/23 - Working more on the scenes in our groups.

We carried on from Monday in this lesson by getting the scene on its feet and starting to block it. This was so we could make the scene even more realistic for when we show the rest of class and Kelly. I really liked today's rehearsal because everyone I was working with made me feel very comfortable and gave me in depth feedback to make my performance even better.

Warm up game

19/01/23 - Zest theatre.

Today we had a visit from Zest theatre!

First we all introduced ourselves by saying our names, how we are feeling and something we are good at. Then we learnt some new warm warm up games like "wah". The rules or this game are as follows: you shout "wah" to someone while pointing at them with both arms they then need to say "wah" while putting their arms up, after this the people who are stood next to the person now saying "wah" need to also say "wah" while pretending to "chop" them a bit like a tree. It is then passed on from the person in the middle and the game carries on. After this we did a number of activities to let zest theatre know about us and what our secondary school experience was like for them to make a play about it. One of these activities included folding a piece of paper into 8 pieces and answering questions about ourselves with the date on so when we rip them up we can put them into a timeline, zest then took a photo of this to take inspiration for their play. Another activity we did was just talk about our experiences in a group so we could all see if we relate to each other.
