Year 1 Half term 2 - Week 3
14/11/22 - munchkin practise.
in this lesson we worked on the munchkin entrance and how its going to look on stage. we went from scene 2 and had each casts Dorothy and good witch of the north to run through there lines while the munchkins playing in their cast would learn what to do while there talking. i'm not fond of learning the munchkin part as we need to act very childish and that's not really my thing. but once we had figured everything out it did come together and look good.
15/11/22 - continuing munchkin practised
Truthfully i hated today's lesson because we needed to act as children for the entire lesson and we even played duck duck goose because that's what kids do, i think i didn't like the lesson because i wanted to take this show seriously but to get into the munchkin head space you have to act like a kid. i know for next lesson i just need to try and relax a bit and be a kid but its just a bit odd to do these things in college. i don't mind acting like a kid for the show because we have to do things were not comfortable with sometimes but to spend an entire lesson pretending to be from Year 2 and playing games like duck duck goose was kind of annoying as some people really got into it and started 'telling on us' to Kane when we were just trying to make some fun out of a weird situation.
16/11/22 - bringing props in to develop our munchkins further.
For this lesson we brought in props to show what our munchkins profession were and to get further into their head space. i brought in a flower pot to show that i was a florists daughter.
After this we then moved on to practising the other smaller scenes, this included Aunt Ems scene so me, Uncle Henry actor and Dorothy's actress went on to the stage and read out our lines trying to block out where we would stand.
17/11/22 - separating into our casting groups and helping each other develop the further.
In this lesson we were asked to get into our casting groups (all uncle Henry's and Aunt Em's) and help each other develop our performance. my group went into the film room and we each showed what we think our character would do. when Me and Taron did our take on the scene, we then let the others give us feedback and change the scene to make it even better. For example some of the feedback i got was to be louder and sound more worried so it was more believable that a cyclone was coming. We then did this for Dev and A'layah giving them feedback and for Will and Freya until we thought we had mastered the scene.
