Year 1 Half term 2 - Week 2

 07/11/2022 - Wizard of Oz auditions 

Today we did wizard of auditions, i was very excited for this and i auditioned for the role of the cowardly lion.  my audition was at 1 pm so while i was waiting, A'layah helped me run through lines and perfect how i was going to do it. i was extremely nervous for the audition but just did the best i could. I did forget a couple of lines but Kelly and Kane reassured me that it was okay and after i was done Kelly asked me if i could do it a second time but make sure the emotion change was shown fully. When i did it again i felt more confident and got good feedback from both Kelly and Kane. Even though i was happy with my feedback i didn't want to get my hopes up as i didn't know how well others did. After everyone's auditions were complete we were told there was going to be group call backs to see how well the chemistry was, because of this i tried to mentally prepare myself for this. 

08/11/2022 - wizard of OZ call backs in tester group

This was the first call back i had ever done and it was in groups to see how well people would do performing together. I really liked the group i was put in as everyone was trying to reassure me that the audition was going to go well. Unfortunately i let my thoughts get the best of me and when i saw the other lions perform i had already convinced myself i wasn't good enough for the part and threw my chance away as i didn't try my best. i know this is because of my confidence in front of my peers and i need to work on that before i go for a core part next time so i don't let myself down. 

09/11/2022 - getting cast list - practising munchkin entry

We got our cast list today, i was given Aunt Em. i wont lie i did get upset when finding out i didn't get the cowardly lion because i was still hoping i would get the part even though my call back audition wasn't great. i'm extremely grateful i was still given a speaking part but it did knock my confidence a little when the cast list was being read out. However Kelly reassured me that i just need to work on my confidence and that its nothing to do with my acting which made me feel better. 

After this we worked on the munchkin entrance for the show. We did this by getting into our casts (1,2 and 3) and figured out a part that would go well with song that Tom created. my group (cast 2) decided we would try and sneak around Dorothy and tip toe around so we look very innocent, during this Me, Laura and Emily S went onto the arch in the theatre so we could peep our heads over the top, i wasn't particularly fond of this as i'm terrified of heights and it feels unstable under my feet even though it's not but it was really fun to get involved in this, plus it pushes me out of my comfort zone and helps me get over my fear.

10/11/2022 - Christmas films and wizard of oz runs through

Today we were with the film students for the first part of our lesson to get to know what our new project was going to be. And i'm extremely happy that its Christmas films!!!!

To help the film students we wrote down some Christmas traditions we celebrate every year to give them some ideas on what to write about. my Christmas tradition was that we wait until the first weekend to listen to Christmas music and put our Christmas tree up.We then watched some amazing Christmas films that were created by past students to get an idea of what we will be doing this year.

After this we separated from the film students and went to the theatre  to run through the wizard of oz as a cast. My cast went first so the Historian (Callum), Uncle Henry (Taron), Dorothy (Millie S) and me as Aunt Em read through the first scene.
